Rick Burnett
CEORick comes from a journalism background starting at the Adelaide Advertiser in 1975 after discontinued Engineering and Science studies at Adelaide University. In the 80s, he served a term as a State Government ministerial press secretary, between stints in news at channels 7 and 10. He joined Channel 9’s “A Current Affair” in 1987. In 1988 his reporter/producer role took him to Queensland where he stayed, and in 1992, he started the local news and community affairs program, “Extra” on Channel 9, which he hosted for 15 years. In 2006, he left to travel overseas with his wife Sonya, and pursue his personal quest for sustainable living, buying a houseboat and working on solar and wind power systems. Striving for a zero carbon footprint, his passion continues and he says everything he has ever done - from boat-building hobbies as a beach-kid to uni dropout, journo, traveller, and TV commentator – it’s been a perfect 30-year apprenticeship for his new role in Keep Australia Beautiful.
